The Space Shuttle: Extraordinary Challenges for Science
The unique challenges of peopled spaceflight have been the source of inspiration in design, computer programming, telephony and the life sciences. Perhaps one of the most consistently amazing features of the global effort to put humans into outerspace is the originality of space craft design.
As the official contractor to NASA, A-B Emblem has provided embroidered emblems to the astronauts for the entire Space Shuttle Program from 1981 to 2011.

Mercury: Messenger of the Gods
Initiated in 1958, completed in 1963, Project Mercury was the United States' first man-in-space program. The objectives of the program, which made six manned flights from 1961 to 1963, were specific: To orbit a manned spacecraft around Earth; To investigate man's ability to function in space; and To recover both man and spacecraft safely. This original design is a difficult patch to find but we have tracked it down
Race to the Moon -
Apollo: Race to the Moon
After being caught off-guard by the Soviet Sputnik I, and then again by Sputnik II, the US sought to accelerate space exploration. An astonished nation rallied support for a full-force "space race".
NASA's space program, with sites set far beyond the moon(remember, Venus had already been attempted and achieved by both the US and Soviet space programs in unmanned fly-bys), devised a means to orbit the moon, deploy a lunar landing module, and transport two astronauts (Armstrong and Aldrin) to the surface of the moon -- before anyone else in the known world.
Skylab was the name of the first orbiting space station for the USA. It used hardware developed for the Apollo program including the Command Module and the Saturn V rocket. The three crews lived on Skylab for the longest space voyages up to that time.
For years humans have been exploring space. It was started as a race, but now a new age is dawning with prospects of a world wide joint effort of scientific exploration of space. Only time will tell what accomplishments can be made, and what wonders will be achieved. Check out our collection of special patches. From NASA's special programs to international ventures, collages and more!
